Obtained specific performance for collector/dealer of musical instruments and obtained award of monetary sanctions against defendant and defense counsel
Client executed an informal, handwritten contract to purchase a collection of rare violins and other stringed instruments. The seller had a change of heart and tried to disaffirm the contract. We brought suit, obtained a preliminary injunction to prevent defendant from disposing of the instruments, and ultimately prevailed at a trial in federal district court, which ordered the defendant to turn over the instruments to our client. When defendant dawdled, we successfully sought monetary sanctions. The Second Circuit affirmed
